I believe that everyone possesses the ability to create. Unfortunately, womyn are often not encouraged to express themselves through art. Our ideas are dismissed, our passions are put on hold, and our artistic education is not seen as a priority. These social barriers are precisely what inspire me to create, because regardless of these stigmas, I see womyn everyday who find ways to create and hustle their work. It’s not easy declaring oneself an artist, but if we are to be respected in the same way as the canon of white men artists, we must continue to respect our own ideas enough to put them out there.
